It is believed that vaginal steam has origins in South Africa. It is most popular in rural areas in Africa in Mozambique, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, and Ghana. Also, it is practiced in northern Africa, namely in Morocco, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Sudan. In rural areas of Africa vaginal steam was started as post pregnancy wellbeing. Usually, there was a 40-day ritual to help the woman’s body get back to full health. Contemporary African women practice vaginal steam to enhance male sexual pleasure by causing vaginal tightening.
